Platforms for OPC development

Two major development platforms are supported by QuickOPC for OPC coding:

.NET Framework: Target Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or higher, on Windows desktop and server operating systems. Typically, you will use Visual Studio.

.NET 6+: Target Microsoft .NET 6+, on Linux and Microsoft Windows systems. Typically, you will use the "full" Visual Studio, .NET CLI Tools, JetBrains Rider, or Visual Studio Code for the development.

COM: Use any tool or language capable of acting as OLE automation controller.

.NET Framework

Note that while QuickOPC requires .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later, in some cases it does not have to be specifically installed, because the satisfying version of the .NET Framework is included with the particulat version of the Windows operating system.
